Inspired by the intricate patterns of a peacock feather, the simple symmetry of a leaf, or the delicate pink folds of a flower, my jewellery aims to encapsulate the colour and life blossoming in the natural world through intricate polymer clay pieces. I am a Jewellery designer living in Isle of Man, in a humble small town called Castletown on the seaside. As an avid gardener and walker, I appreciate the delicate yet vibrant flora which we sometimes take for granted.
My studio is my dining room, walled with glass windows and a glass ceiling and surrounded by my garden. Sometimes I start by looking at an interesting leaf on one of my walks or picking a flower, but mostly I tailor my jewellery to my customer’s need and specifications by studying their desired design online. It generally takes a few days to make a single piece.
Sculpting the clay into the thin and precise shape of the design can take some time, but most of that time is spend on capturing the colour. Blending the coloured clay by continuously flattening through a pasta maker, it can take hours simply to express the exact shade and tone which gives the small sculptures life. The designs are not painted but made by adding layers or shaped clay together like a puzzle. The beauty of these pieces is that it just comes alive when you wear it! I do love my work
